The RRoD (Red Ring of Death) is the most common problem with the Xbox360.  Some of the symptoms may start out as overheating problems which will show up as two flashing lights, this is a sure sign that the RRoD will soon be following.  This is caused by excessive heat buildup, that’s simply not dissipated properly.  This is usually due to either not enough heat sink compound, or the breakdown of the heat sink compound under thermal stress.  The excessive heat then causes the solder balls under the BGA IC’s to develop cold solder joints, thus leading to the above mentioned symptoms.
